The Gift of the Orchids

The Gift of the Orchids

✧ July 18, 2026 ✧

This month brought me an unexpected gift. After several years without blooming, all three of my orchids began flowering at the same time!

Like many of my plants, these orchids each have a name: Fairy, Angel and Honey.
Honey flowers almost every year, with her beautiful yellow and pink flowers. Fairy and Angel are both white, larger plants that I have received as gifts from loved ones many years ago.

I recently came across a video suggesting that gently piercing an orchid stem with a toothpick and adding a small amount of crushed aspirin might encourage blooming. I wasn’t convinced, but it seemed harmless enough to try. I tried it on Angel, who had gone the longest without flowering. A few weeks later, a new flower spike appeared. Soon after, Fairy surprised me with one as well. Before long, both plants were covered in buds and are now in full bloom.

Around the same time, I had just finished an orchid cloisonné pendant in the studio. Looking back, it feels as though my work and my surroundings were reflecting the same inspiration.

My orchid’s story reminded me of the quote “The wound is the place where the light enters you.” At times, life’s challenges can be like that gentle poke. They push us to change, adapt and, in time, reveal strengths we didn’t know were there. They help us see the world in new ways and remind us of what truly matters.

Those experiences have a way of bringing out our own flowers and help us develop gratitude and resilience. We just need to remain open enough to appreciate the lessons they offer.

Nature has always been one of my greatest teachers. I often find inspiration in the smallest things and have become highly sensitive and connected to plants and all living beings.
I will leave July feeling grateful, renewed, and eager to continue observing, creating and enjoying the magic all around me!

I’m continuing my enamel experiments. Enamel is such a versatile art and includes amazing possibilities.

Last month I showed how beautiful the cloisonné enamel art is. Then I started experimenting with other enamel art techniques.

It takes time to develop these skills, lots of hours, exploration and fun results.

I have now made my first plique-à-jour piece, a lotus flower that will soon become part of a set of earrings.

One of the things that drew me to plique-à-jour is its relationship with light. Without a metal backing, the transparent enamel becomes illuminated from behind, revealing colours that seem to glow from within. Every change in light brings the piece to life in a different way.

I created several charms with openings to receive transparent enamels that let the light go through. They are best suited for earrings, as pieces on the skin would block the light.

And we just love that light shining through the colored glass.

It’s been busy in the studio, which leaves little time for exploration, but I’m hopeful that I’ll have many new creations in the coming months.

sacred geometry symbol: coquille st-jacques

Coquille St-Jacques – Scallop Shell

The Coquille Saint-Jacques is one of my favourite symbols in Sacred Geometry. Its radiating ribs all emerge from a single point, expressing unity, expansion and harmony. Throughout history, the shell has represented protection, guidance and the spiritual journey. Its natural proportions have also fascinated researchers, revealing elegant geometric and harmonic relationships that continue to inspire artists, architects and students of Sacred Geometry today.

In Geobiology, we use this symbol to help raise the energetic vibration of a space. I have always found its harmonizing qualities truly remarkable. That’s why you will find a few of these around my studio and home! I can never have enough. :)

So, to my delight, my dear friend Natali who knows how much I love this symbol, sent me a package of these magical shells. See the beautiful treasures below. I am sooo grateful!

I have always loved the ocean, and shells are incredible reminders of the artistry found throughout nature and the universe.

Studio Friends

Raphael Filmbrenner

One of the greatest blessings of this journey is to meet incredibly talented souls along the way.

I made a couple of pendants for my client Raphael from Austria and some time later received this gorgeous photo that is on my studio’s wall. A stunning sunflower, a very well known and beloved sacred geometry symbol, as well.

Raphael is a talented photographer and I am so grateful for the gift. He also kindly offered some lovely creative pictures of his pendant.

You can see his beautiful work on his website https://www.filmbrenner.at/galerie/
